they returned home in the spring of 2023, spent driggs' birthday with a quick hike in moab before spending their last 50 bucks on a gas tank in price. home... in 3 hours.
she double checked real estate wasn't working still, grandpa passed away the day before his own birthday, and she got an easy job at the paint and sip parlor before saying "driggs, let's just go to the desert. I'd like to sit in the sun, have a moment of silence, and you can chew all the sticks you want." good deal. a guitar duo was just getting started. her first time performing in public, ever. to be continued...
one day, they were camping out high up on the mesa. a beautiful, quiet morning hike in the park. they had no problem with back to back hikes to make a full day but this time they decided to go back, play the guitar, "maybe we'll take an afternoon nap" but oh... did that not happen. it was a rough road, ultra steep, a corner involved... but nothing the black stallion couldn't handle at a slow pace. monsoon season means rock movement for color country. road was clear when they left, no storms all day, they got some pics of the signature bucket hat in the slots and she said "alright buddy... ready to go back and chill?"
everything was going swell, easy breezy, even grand. she thought of grandpa, looked to her left and "omg driggs! a rainbow! thank you grandpa!" boom.... the worst feeling ever. "maybe it wasn't so big... we've gotta reverse off of this anyway..." ... that sound wasn't good either. "shit... we're on a cliff driggs... closer to the top... see if we can get up there..." they did, after a local called them stupid, offered no help and said "your car is leaking" and a "pull over now" error on the dash... no shit captain obvious. popped the hood, had a toke with "no sense in panicking while it cools down. gas station is 1mi away. we'll be fine either way. might as well call the park ranger for help. maybe park the black stallion there and sleep somewhere else without embarassment." they stayed... for 5 days... stranded... on walkabout... for 5 days... "how's your car doing? lol..." every visit from the townspeople for over a year. "talk of the town."
they continued their weekend roadtrips throughout the state, but it was the sandstone cliffs where they spent most of their time. especially in their last year together. not in the city, not the polygamist town, and not the terrace either, but a literal natural disaster. with a posable skeleton of course. it was the marketing place before it became the place where burning the visions was inevitable. driggs passed away there, and she moved on with no other choice and nothing left. it is however, the official stamp of lagom.
many adventures to share, from the good days. we'll start you with the beginnings of block printing, bandanas, and more that all came to be in a place many people deem as "the middle of nowhere."
an ethereal landscape, with no shortage of stories from others too.
roll the credits...
